WHO WE ARE

All Assam Physiotherapy Association (AAPA)

Established on 31st December 2007, the All Assam Physiotherapy Association (AAPA) is committed to strengthening and promoting physiotherapy as an integral part of healthcare in Assam. AAPA strives to uphold the highest standards of ethical, evidence-based and accessible physiotherapy practice, while supporting the professional growth of physiotherapists across the state. Our vision is to ensure quality rehabilitation services that improve health, functional independence and quality of life for every individual.

Our Mission:

  1. 1. To promote and strengthen the physiotherapy profession throughout Assam with professional unity, dignity and ethical practice.
  2. 2. To improve the quality of physiotherapy services through evidence-based practice, continuing professional education, training, workshops and scientific activities.
  3. 3. To create public awareness about physiotherapy, rehabilitation, prevention of disability and the importance of physical activity and healthy living.
  4. 4. To advocate for the professional rights and welfare of physiotherapists and work toward appropriate recognition and opportunities for the profession.
  5. 5. To support students and young physiotherapists through mentorship, academic activities, professional development and networking.
  6. 6. To promote accessible physiotherapy services in urban, rural and underserved communities of Assam.
  7. 7. To collaborate with government, healthcare institutions, educational institutions and other professional organizations for strengthening rehabilitation and community healthcare.
  8. 8. To uphold professional ethics, competency and patient-centred care among physiotherapists.
  9. 9. To contribute to a healthier Assam by promoting prevention, rehabilitation, functional independence and quality of life.

People involved in AAPA:

  1. 1. Senior & experienced Physiotherapists – providing professional leadership, guidance and policy direction.
  2. 2. Practising Physiotherapists – working in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centres, sports settings, academics and private practice.
  3. 3. Physiotherapy educators & academicians – contributing to education, curriculum development, training and professional development.
  4. 4. Physiotherapy students – participating in academic programmes, workshops, awareness activities and professional initiatives. AAPA activities have included both physiotherapists and physiotherapy students.
  5. 5. Researchers & clinical specialists – promoting evidence-based practice, research and scientific advancement.
  6. 6. District/Zonal representatives – helping connect physiotherapists across different parts of Assam.
  7. 7. Executive Committee members – President, Secretary, Treasurer and other office bearers responsible for administration and implementation of AAPA programmes.
  8. 8. Life/General members – physiotherapists who formally associate with the organization; AAPA membership/registration numbers are documented in professional profiles.
  9. 9. Volunteers & professional supporters – assisting in health camps, public awareness programmes, conferences and community activities.
  10. 10. Collaborating institutions and organizations – hospitals, physiotherapy colleges, universities and other healthcare organizations that work with AAPA for professional and public-health programmes. AAPA has organized workshops and academic programmes in collaboration with healthcare and educational institutions.
